Approval, another day that will live in infamy.
The May 9, 2010 will be another day in innumerable infamous list of days that have woven the merciless rule of capital. Santiago bag something indicating when shares rose 0.56% Endesa and Enersis increase by 0.33% and the IPSA (the sort of capitalist feast) rises by 0.53%. In odd numbers is expressed solidarity of the ruling class ... then GDP growth will rise to the stupidity of believing we're going to development. Wherever people are suffering, the capital smiles.
Contradictions between national and local authorities, lobby, clear conflicts of interest and other evils, capital overcame the opinion of the vast majority, reaffirming its monopoly status, projected as the owners of 80% of the market power generator and distributor in Chile. Although, as the media portrays, there response "citizen" does not have accurate tools to stop the conflict. Besides the spontaneous demonstrations meritorious (see
here a note on it) is betting, naively, in a court battle against economic powers. Beyond the restraint of the initiative, it is clear that one does not have the social force needed to direct pressure, in addition, on the other hand, expressed the warm and naive of the current directions of motion. A "citizen" here that the citizens have no place or space in a stark social structure and no place for the effective exercise of citizenship. Therefore, bring the power of discontent in those cases is simply illusory.
Most challenges to the project emphasize democratic abuses, in the institutional weaknesses and the venality of the authorities, but would have to ask, what indeed is the triumph of the will despot on the institutional or the true face of a state designed to achieve the results that so many grieve today? Institutional attachment, the illusion of so-called "institutions that work" are a great placebo for channeling the discontent, not an end but a giant "hamster wheel." A State so close, so "friend" of foreign capital can not give real answers to the needs of the majority, but that its policy is precisely to keep the majority on the sidelines of politics.
other hand, HidroAysén is not the exception but the norm. Clear expression of political and economic trajectory of the neoliberal model, therefore, critical stop on a single project is ridiculous, hypocritical and a pure gesture according to fashion. It is not just Hidroaysén (
here other energy projects)-which, incidentally, is the most representative, but is the fundamental discussion of "what matrix to which model, led by what kind," only when that step the debate will be building a real way out, the rest can only be a poor container, limited, an attempt to stop the impossible or cover the sun with a finger.
Again and again, these huge insult to common sense are paving the way for the most trained for the fight prepare their offensive front, so that, at some point, bursts onto the scene with a power and own project. HidroAysén is a further blow of imperialism, is a new light on the real enemy. The tragedy of HidroAysen marks a step in the list of outrages that should go sulphide the minds of the exploited and oppressed.
